Hello everyone,

Our last newsletter to you was dated 8 September 2021. Following is our news since then:

1.    Birdwatching Walk
Our next Birdwatching Walk will be at 11.30am this coming Wednesday 10 November. It will start from the viewing platform at the entrance to Troy Park (opp 194 Burke Drive, Attadale) and will be of approximately 1 ½ hours duration. SERAG’s highly experienced Margaret Matassa will lead the group. A number of migratory birds have already arrived on our shores and how exciting it will be to see some of them! If you’d like to attend, please reply promptly to this email to let us know. If you have a pair of birdwatching binoculars, bring them along as well as a bottle of water, sunscreen and a hat. Please arrive at 11.20am to complete registration details. (We’re planning another Walk hopefully late November/early December in case you miss out on this one.)

2.   Have Your Say on the Melville Bird Sanctuary to our Member for Bicton, Lisa O’Malley MLA and/or our Member for Bateman, Kim Giddens MLA
Both Lisa O’Malley and Kim Giddens have recently reiterated to the City of Melville their strong support for the Melville Bird Sanctuary. Please let Lisa O’Malley and/or Kim Giddens know of your support for a Melville Bird Sanctuary by completing a very short survey via the links below:

3.   Climate Emergency
The City of Melville has declared a Climate Emergency.  Read more about it at this link:

4.   Attadale Alfred Cove Foreshore Master Plan
The City of Melville wants your feedback by Sunday 5 December on the draft Master Plan now online at https://mailchi.mp/melville.wa.gov.au/attadale-alfred-cove-foreshore-master-plan-public-comment?e=eb08b40683. You should have already received this information from the City of Melville. Please show your strong support for the early establishment of the Melville Bird Sanctuary in your comments. As the one entity in the entire Master Plan that extends along a significant area of the Attadale Alfred Cove foreshore, the Melville Bird Sanctuary should be treated as a very important component of the Master Plan as well as the City of Melville’s Climate Action Plan. We will provide further comments on the draft Master Plan in our next Newsletter (which will be sent out prior to the due-by date for community comment).
